YouTube’s TikTok style feature ‘Shorts’ has been given a substantial monetisation boost. The $100 Million fund will be distributed over the course of 2021-2022 and encourages and rewards users for creating content.
This may incentivise content creators to use the feature instead of starting (or going over) to TikTok, whilst allowing YouTube to gain more market share in this area.
Users can now create posts with reminders on Instagram, which people can receive notifications for. This is a valuable feature for capturing interest in a physical event, merch launch or new music.
