October Key Dates

Why Observe Key Dates as a Business?

  • To grow your online following and customer base
  • To celebrate recognised events with your followers
  • To help new people discover your business (remember to use relevant and trending hashtags online!)

Here are some key dates to add to your business calendar this September:

1st - 31st October - National Cybersecurity Awareness Month

This month, concentrate on confidentiality.

Ways to observe:

  • Dedicate some time to expanding and updating your current cybersecurity.
  • Reset your passwords! October could be an excellent reminder to finally ditch ‘password 123!’
  • Reassess your processes. Is there anything you can do more securely or effectively? Dedicate some time to researching new available security measures.

Share pink to make you think.

Ways to observe:

  • Wear pink!
  • Consider changing your website theme to pink or creating dedicated social media posts.
  • Time for a fundraiser! This could effectively raise awareness and give back while creating great content through team-building activities.

1st - 31st Black History Month

Dedicate this month to learning, supporting, and appreciating everyone.

Ways to observe:

  • Support employee resource groups!
  • Encourage learning about black history month - celebrate black influences on your industry.
  • Harness the power of social media- maybe do an employee spotlight to amplify black voices, ask if there is anything your employees would like to share or talk about and pass the mic!

1st October - World Vegetarian Day

Lettuce, do our best!

Ways to observe:

  • Share some of your favourite vegetarian recipes on social media
  • Photo opportunity! Take your staff out for a vegetarian meal
  • Commit to eating a vegetarian meal a week

10th October - World Mental Health Day

The time to help your team support, share and shine

Ways to observe:

  • Consider sharing some mental health support tips on your social media.
  • Raise awareness - maybe the CEO could give a message showing mental health can affect anyone.
  • Host a tea and talk event for your staff members.

16th October - World Food Day

A day to appreciate culture and delicious food!

Ways to observe:

  • Get your team to all cook something and have a shared staff lunch! This could make some heartwarming social media content.
  • If you work with food-related clients, this could be a good opportunity to showcase the flexibility of their products and how they can be used to make multicultural dishes.
  • Even if you don’t work in the food sector, you could still share some of your favourite foods and recipes from around the world!

31st October - Halloween

Trick or Treat time!

Ways to observe:

  • It’s to get your spook on with a specialised spooky playlist!
  • Don’t forget to get festive, wear some costumes to work, and take some spooky shots to share on your social media.
  • Consider using some spooky template to give your website and posts a spooky feel!
  • And if you love Halloween like we do, why not visit a pumpkin patch with your staff for team bonding? This can make some great content and shake things up from a usual staff meal.
