YouTube’s TikTok style feature ‘Shorts’ has been given a substantial monetisation boost. The $100 Million fund will be distributed over the course of 2021-2022 and encourages and rewards users for creating content.
This may incentivise content creators to use the feature instead of starting (or going over) to TikTok, whilst allowing YouTube to gain more market share in this area.

TikTok has patented TikTok music which leads to the possibility of a music platform, a distributor or shop. This could make TikTok a competitor to Apple music and Spotify as a new contender in the streaming business.
