Instagram is experimenting with extended video features of 3 and 10-minute Reels, a feature never before tested in real-time.
The new longer Reels are limited to specific users and must be pre-recorded outside the app.
Recent Meta data shows there’s been a 20% year-over-year increase in Reel consumption, highlighting the importance of video content in driving account growth and content discovery across the platform.
Users now don’t need a separate IGTV app to watch longer videos. The experience is embedded in the main app, accessed via in-feed teasers, a tab of the Explore page, promo stickers in Stories, and profile tabs.
