YouTube has rolled out new thumbnail customisation options for Shorts, allowing creators to edit thumbnail frames by adding text and filters.
Although custom thumbnails for Shorts are not yet available, editing thumbnails is only currently possible on mobile. YouTube maintains that thumbnails play a smaller role, given that most users encounter them in a full-screen feed.
Users now don’t need a separate IGTV app to watch longer videos. The experience is embedded in the main app, accessed via in-feed teasers, a tab of the Explore page, promo stickers in Stories, and profile tabs.
