TikTok has signed a deal with Sony Music Entertainment to allow users access to their extensive back catalog and new music. It’s the first deal TikTok has signed with a major - and could be a sign of things to come. It’s good news for Sony’s artists in terms of promotion and discovery, and further cements Tiktok’s credentials as an essential platform for the music industry.
Users now don’t need a separate IGTV app to watch longer videos. The experience is embedded in the main app, accessed via in-feed teasers, a tab of the Explore page, promo stickers in Stories, and profile tabs.
